5 💋 Best Lipsticks For Thin Lips

Lipstick For Thin Lips

Best lipsticks for thin lips.

Three things I absolutely consider must haves (in the material world) Purses, Books, and Lipstick.

Having small lips myself and a woman obsessed with lipstick, I have found and selected my most favorites for my small lips that give them a gleam, a boost and a bit of dazzle.

I have learned to love my small lips and do find them sexy. I do however love giving them a little oomph and decorating them with a lovely coat of lipstick when desired.

After reading through this article, I recommend you to read one of my favorites, Are Small Lips Unattractive? Embrace & Enhance A Lovely Pout.

Best Lipsticks For Thin Lips

A Semi Glossy Lipstick

Also known as a satin finish.

An actual lip gloss, although leaves a lovely gleam enhancing a fullness of the lips, can be super sticky, uncomfortable and leaves your hair stuck to it when the wind blows.

A semi glossy lipstick however provides you with that shine, but has a creamier finish which is more silky rather than sticky. A personal preference of mine, and my number one favorite kind of lipstick for a small pout.

This glossy look can also deflect some minor “flaws,” in lips like dryness.

Why It’s On This List: A semi glossy lipstick adds a shine to the lips creating a slight look of fullness. It also has a luxe a smooth feel to it on the lips.

A Nude Lipstick

A nude lipstick can look super pretty on small lips, can soften your look, deter attention away from your small lips if you are shy and contradictory, draw attention to them as well.

To draw attention to your pout with a nude lipstick, you can use a lip liner just a touch darker than the lipstick color and give the lips a bit of outline definition.

Why It’s On This List: A nude lipstick can either move attention away from your small lips if you’re wanting to do so. Or it can highlight them. You decide.

Alongside best lipsticks for thin lips, the nude lipstick also makes it on the list in Lipsticks That Make You Look Younger.

Revlon Make it Pink. My FAVORITE Nude.
MAC HoneyLove

A Pale Pink Or light Lipstick

A lovely selection if you don’t want your lips to be nude or if you can’t find a nude shade that doesn’t wash out your other features.

We know lighter colors will reflect light making whatever object that lighter color is on, appear bigger.

If using a pink color, it adds such a lovely whisper of femininity to your overall appearance. Even if lips are small, they can still look super feminine. You may enjoy Make Your Face Look More Feminine : For A Non-Typical Beauty if you are interested in creating a more feminine look.

Why It’s On This List: Lighter colors reflect light, creating the subject to appear slightly larger. It’s an optical illusion, not to mention adds a bit of femininity.

Some of My Favorite Pink Lipsticks.

Below are my favorites. PLEASE Always keep in mind that they look fairly different on different skin tones! I have medium / yellow tones in my skin & foundation I use.

Nars Roman Holiday
Revlon Primrose
Revlon Make it Pink. Listed Again Because This Works as a VERY Pale Pink

A Lipstick With Some Shimmer

Shimmery lipstick has tiny tiny little flecks of shimmer or sparkle that reflect the light even further than a light colored lipstick can. It adds a little more extra dazzle and oomph to those pretty little lips.

Why It’s On This List: Similar to the effect of a semi glossy lipstick, a shimmery lipstick creates a bit of shine to the lips creating that slightly fuller pout.

A Plumping Lipstick

Plumping lipsticks have ingredients in them that increase blood flow to the lips causing them to plush up a bit.

I remember testing them out years and years ago when they were HOT. Though they are not my number one personally, many ladies find them a great option for a mini confidence boost in their lips.

Always be cautious with ingredients and try to avoid if you have allergies or sensitivities.

RECAP:

Type Of LipstickWhy It Is A Good Selection
Semi GlossyAdds shine to the lips creating a bit of fullness.
Nude Can blend the lips into the face and make other features the star of the show.

Or, if used with a lip liner, it can draw attention to the lips.
Pale Pink Or LightLighter colors reflect lighter creating the illusion of slightly larger lips

Pink adds a touch of femininity to the overall look.
ShimmeryTiny flecks further reflect the light also adding a bit of dazzle to you pretty little pout.
Plumping Because it will increase blood flow to the lips creating an even poutier shape.

Always be careful with any lipstick if you have allergies, but take extra precaution with a plumping one as some may find it uncomfortable.

How To Put Lipstick On Thin Lips

To apply lipstick on thin lips, and create a poutier look, you must;

  • Decide If You Are Enhancing or “Correcting”
  • Line The Lips In A Flattering Way
  • Create A Bit Of Contrast

Decide If You Are Enhancing or “Correcting” & Line The Lips

Many people will wear lip liner and lipstick to “correct” their “flaws.” I personally love the little details in our features that really give us personality.

For example, there is some advice out there to create a more symmetrical looking lip by overlining either the top or bottom lip to match its counterpart perfectly in size.

BUT, I personally have noticed that If you have a pouty lower lip for example, it may actually suit your entire face and compliment your other features much better rather than making the upper and lower lip the same size.

This takes some playing around. If you feel that you must change the shape of your lip with “corrective makeup” do try it out in front of a mirror.

See if your entire look was better before or after your lip lining. Sometimes you may be surprised and find your original look is prettiest.

There are times when we want to enhance our natural lip shape with the lip liner. play around on where you want to put the liner. Cupid’s bow? Only the upper outer corners? Only on the bottom lip?

Have some fun and expiriment what looks like you and most flattering to you?

Create A Bit Of Contrast

After finding the best lip lining techniques for your overall look that suits ALL of your features, you can create a bit more of a pout by adding a touch more liner in certain areas. For example, my favorite spot to increase my put is just at the top of the cupids bow.

To create some contrast, you can put a shimmery or semi glossy lipstick in the center of your lips that’s a bit lighter than the lipstick you lined your entire pout in. Blend it in for a natural look.

This creates a more dimension in the lips truly giving a poutier look.

You can add a little bit of highlighter on your cupid’s bow for a bit more dimension.
