When Spring & Summer show their lovely faces it’s time to bare more skin and expose more body parts including our feet. Having that little bump on the side of our toe can be quite annoying and make us feel less attractive.

There are many little tricks I have implemented to disguise them and make my feet look prettier in the warmer weather which I will discuss in this article.

These are merely suggestions and you should also seek professional advice particularly from a podiatrist if your bunions are troublesome and causing issues or getting worse.

Keep A Pretty Appearance In General

When you keep your feet looking pretty and well cared for they will have a pretty appearance in general.

When your toe nails are neatly filed and painted in a pretty and flattering color, they look much more presentable and pretty, even if you have bunions.

Having chipped nail polish or unhealthy looking nails and skin on our feet would only further add to the look of the bunion in a negative way.

In my article How To Make Feet Look More Feminine: In Shoes, Socks & Bare, I discuss this topic in depth including the following;

Proper Selection Of Shoes

Further in this article, we will discuss what kind of shoes and details can help disguise bunions giving our feet a prettier appearance.

There are many little details shoes have, particularly sandals, that can camouflage a bunion, make it seems smaller and make feet look prettier.

Be Selective With Colors

Colors can have a great effect on how we perceive objects. We know lighter colors can reflect light making an object seem bigger and darker colors can camouflage and object making it seem smaller.

With this in mind, I noticed that when I tan my feet whether it be in the sunlight or using a faux tanning lotion to achieve the healthy glow, the bump on the side of my toe is far less noticeable, and my feet just look prettier and healthier in general.

Keep colors in mind when selecting shoes as well. You want the color to flatter your skin tone for an overall pretty look and not drawing any extra attention to the bunion.

This is also important when selecting nails colors for our toes. Always select a shade that flatters your skin tone.

Red nails are so pretty and sexy, but I noticed they do not suit my feet (on my hands however, the correct shade of red looks classy).

Instead I opt for an off-white peachy color that suits me perfectly and gives a fresh youthful look to my feet.

Arch Support

I noticed when I’m wearing a flat pair of shoes, the little bump on the side looks more prominent than when I have on a pair of heels. Having some sore of incline, or even arch support can help make the bunion look better.

Some may find a shoe on an incline can cause pain to the bunion so this sip is for mild versions.

You can always try inserting a gel arch support under the arch of your foot while wearing a flat pair of shoes and see if this changes the look of the bunion.

Yoga Toes!

I love using toe stretchers to keep my toes feeling good and looking good. It’s not some miraculous fix but Yoga Toes does offer help in realigning the bunion toe to point in amore straight and forward direction as opposed to inward.

I personally loved using them after I used to wear high heels. Now I use it to prevent my bunions from worsening. This comes hand in hand with wearing better shoes and limiting closed-toed high heels that I once loved to wear on a daily basis.

Always read directions carefully prior to using any new products.

I suggest you read the reviews before purchasing as well and make a thoughtful decision before deciding if they are right for you.

How To get Beautiful Feet By Making Bunions Look SMALLER

Details

Feminine details like bows or sparkling studs can offer slight distraction making feet look cute and pretty in general. Certain kinds of sandals, discussed further in this article, can also assist in making bunions look smaller.

Healthy Color

As we mentioned earlier, having a healthy glow to our feet can help camouflage the bunions and give a healthier look to the foot overall.

Not only does the bunion look smaller, but this tip can also help disguise veins and other imperfections and discolorations in our feet.

When tanning feet, I tend to use a gradual self tanner instead of a full self tanner (as I would on my body).

My most favorite gradual self tanner for the feet is Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Natural Bronze. It offers a natural look without looking orange or streaky.

Sandals That Hide Bunions: Sandals To Disguise Bunions

Heeled Sandals

I noticed in general when wearing a heel, even a kitten heel, the foot looks prettier, smaller, and the bump is less pronounced.

Always be cognizant of your specific situation. More severe forms of bunions are probably in need of a more comfortable shoe to avoid worsening the situation.

If that is the case, look for specific details in flat and comfortable shoes that offer a hint of femininity and coverage. Consider the following types of sandals in the next sections.

The heeled sandals above are a fantastic example to disguise bunions. Not only are they slightly heeled to give a less pronounced look of the bump, but they also;

  • Have a large bow that poses as a distraction but also provides coverage
  • Have studs to provide more distraction

Strappy Sandals

The intricate straps of a sandal can provide coverage and also act as a distraction. They should cover the bunion and highlight other parts of the foot.

Make sure to try on sandals to see just where the straps hit on the foot.

Thong Sandals

The thong sandal creates a separation between the big toe (the one with the bump on it) and the rest of the toes. It acts slightly like a toe spacer that is often used to treat bunions.

The straps can actually hide the bunion in addition to creating that helpful separation between the toes offering some comfort, and some camouflage.

Thick Band Sandals

These sandals cover up the bunion while still showing off your freshly painted toes.

If the bunion is severely causing your toe to point inward, a sandal with a thong strap is more suitable. Or the next option may work even better and that is the one toe strap sandal.

One Toe Strap Sandals

These sandals have a strap that separates the toe with the bunion from the other toes.

This is a type of style although there are specific sandals made for bunions that resemble this style of sandal in an attempt to provide comfort and prevent the bunion from worsening.

I always found these types of sandals to provide me with the most simple way of covering up the bunion and giving a feminine look.

For an extra feminine look, select one with a braided toe strap, a sparkly toe strap or with a flower design as the toe strap.
