A woman with striking features walks by and a man is simply in awe and is stopped in his tracks. The ability to pause someone in such a manner truly is alluring and really what defines having a striking look.
What makes a strikingly beautiful person & what are striking features?
Facial features or other features & qualities that are simply unusual in a beautiful and desirable way. These features are a little more rare, sharp, defined, more bold & dramatic than average. Features may include but are not subject to;
- Extremely Dark Hair or Very Blonde Hair
- Extra Light or Extra Dark Eye Colors
- Super Lush Long Hair
- Bold Eye Brows
- Larger Than Usual Eyes

Unusual Combinations: High Contrast Looks
Striking features are usually very bold and stand out from other generally attractive features. Uncommon combinations and looks that we typically do not see too often can really grab the eyes especially when in motion. THE EYES WILL FOLLOW THE BEAUTY.
Interesting combinations such as ;
01. Gorgeous super dark skin with blonde or very light hair (or even blonde highlights)
02. Soft milky pale skin with jet black hair.
These two looks are HIGH CONTRAST and really catch the eye. Even though these looks can be found naturally, we don’t typically see them through the day and it really stands out when we come across this beauty giving her a “striking” appearance.
Skin color itself can be very striking. Super dark, Super pale, and all the lovely shades in between. Skin is the largest organ and we see a lot of it especially in the heat when we bare more of it. As long as it’s kept smooth and looks vibrant and healthy while shimmering in the sun, its a fantastic feature to show off and be proud of.
Bold Brows: A Statement
Thicker brows are associated with being striking just because they are usually more noticeable. However they must be well groomed and shaped to have this effect. Although thicker brows are also associated more with masculinity, if they are correctly shaped to compliment your face, they work beautifully and can still be seen as feminine.
Darker brows usually grab more attention and can be considered striking because they are better seen from far away or when you are just passing by.
Let’s not limit our thinking however to think that only one look can be considered “striking.”
Extremely thin brows can also be striking when paired with piercing eyes. Think 1930’s actress Jean Harlow. Her ghostly sort of appearance would have the ability to stop someone in their tracks walking by, not only because it’s different especially compared to today’s “preferred” looks, but for the fact that she has many other qualities that tie her to that striking look.
And that vibrant platinum blonde really adds that essential drama to the look which brings us to hair …
Hair: The Crowning Glory
Movement, body and the vibrant color of our hair. Hair along with skin are very noticeable from far away. This can create a striking and mesmerizing look from afar. Voluminous with curls or sleek and straight – so long as it has a healthy appeal to it, it can be most certainly striking.
If we’re speaking of striking in a more exotic manner – something we don’t come across all the time – jet black hair or super blonde hair is considered the most striking. [Red hair can also be considered striking as long as the shade is a classy color and compliments the skin].
If we look at Old Hollywood films, we tend to see either of the too. [This may have been due to the combination of lighting effects and the black & white filmmaking thus creating that more defined look].
A short haircut can still be part of your striking appearance [more details further in this article]. In this particular instance we are speaking of hair on its own with movement.
A woman with grey hair can be exceptionally striking especially when paying attention to other additional details about her appearance. An entire look pulled together has the ability to captivate and be striking.
Definition & Drama
Features with a bit more drama and definition can always catch the eye. Earlier we spoke of hair & brows that can create that striking drama. Here are a few more features that are just another touch of “extra” that can have that striking appeal;
- Thick lashes that highlight the shape of the eye better
- Sharp & defined high cheekbones
- Extra pouty or plush lips
- Extra dark mysterious looking eye color
- Super light captivating eye color
- Curvaceous hourglass figure with a prowess-like walk
- Even a small framed figure with a prowess-like walk can add that drama and be striking
You don’t need all of these features combined to be striking. If you have medium brown hair for example, but it’s healthy and shiny combined with pouty lips, maybe defined cheekbones or mesmerizing eyes, you can definitely be considered striking.
There are so many types of beauties, we’re just depicting the term “striking” here. And if you want to create that striking aura, all you need is to emphasize your best and most favorite features.
The Striking Appearance Through Different Eyes
When someone looks striking, they have the ability to make you look at them as they pass by as it almost mesmerizes you. You just may hold your gaze a little longer than usual.
Thus being said we all have our preferences. Everyone has their own definition of beauty and possibly “striking features”, similar to how we say “Beauty is subjective.”
One night, I was with a man and we had been watching a news report when a woman came on the screen. He had stated, “She looks like she was even more attractive when she was younger, her features are very striking.”
To describe her, she was perhaps in her mid 40’s to early 50’s with a pixie cut – contrary to what we would think as striking right? If the hair is striking, ‘I’d think of it as long, lush and full of body.
But indeed I saw the attributes he was speaking of that seemed “striking” to me. Her thick dark eyebrows drew attention right away to beautifully frame her super sharp high cheekbones.
Her jet black dark hair I also associated as striking. Perhaps the short cut can be striking itself or it emphasizes her great bone structure.

A slight hint of sexiness in the way you walk can have a striking effect but a sexy walk is not necessary. Just simply having confidence in your body is a perfect addition. You are there with a PURPOSE. Not just there because “I have to be” and just dragging along.
The Perfect Scent = An Impression. Which Can Be Exceptionally Striking
Remember, the striking appearance can be an entire aura, not just facial features & physique. Perfumes can have a mystifying effect and can alone create a striking aura. If you already have that look, its perfect addition to complete the whole effect. If you’re a super bold gal & want to stand apart from the rest even further, try wearing a men’s cologne, one with a unisex scent to it. Daringly striking!
